🟣 Network of Mother Centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina
The first mother center, Mother Center “Plamen”, was established twenty-three years ago.
In the following years, “Plamen” actively supported the establishment of new mother centers across Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The idea of forming a network of these centers has existed for a long time, but was only recently realized through the project
“Mothers for Peace and Ecology”, supported by the International Network of Mother Centers (MINE).
Through this project, “Plamen” is working with nine mother centers in BiH on establishing the network.
👩👩👧👧 Women from Mother Centers as Pillars of Change
Women involved in the work of mother centers play a key role in improving the position of women in their communities. They:
- Fight against gender-based prejudices and patriarchal values,
- Organize themselves into mother centers and other women-led organizations,
- Set an example for younger generations.
🏡 A Safe Space for Women
In their communities, mother centers are recognized as safe spaces for women, where they:
- Can receive support from other women,
- Can work on their personal development,
- Promote empathy, understanding, and a culture of peace.
In this way, they contribute to the improvement of quality of life for themselves, their families, their communities, and society as a whole.
🎯 Goals of the Mother Centers Network
The goals of the Mother Centers Network in BiH are:
- ✅ To promote the value of networking, including national and international mother center networks (MINE);
- ✅ To support the sustainability of mother centers, women’s organizations, and initiatives in BiH;
- ✅ To support the establishment of new centers and the expansion of the existing network;
- ✅ To facilitate easier access to resources and information.
